Lakes

There are two lakes within a short drive of the Tucked Inn, Lake Monocan and Sherando Lake.

Lake Monocan is a 20-acre lake and park a few minutes from the Tucked Inn. It opens annually the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend through Monday of Labor Day Weekend. It is only open to the public Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and costs $20 per adult and $14 per child(6-12) (children 5 and under are free). The park is staffed daily with a lifeguard, weather permitting. Snack bar, paddle boards, kayaks, aqua cycles, sandy beach, shaded seating, picnic areas and outdoor charcoal grills are available.

Sherando Lake is a 25 minute drive from the Tucked Inn, and is known locally as the jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The area includes 2 lakes with most of the recreational facilities lying between them. Sherando Lake is the lower and larger of the two lakes at 24 acres. The upper lake is used primarily for fishing. Sherando Lake features swimming, camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing. Swimming facilities include a sandy beach, a shaded grass area, and a bathhouse with warm showers. Access to multiple trailheads and rustic architecture provides numerous points of interest for families to enjoy. It is open 7 days a week from early April through Late October, and costs $8 per vehicle up to 8 passenger capacity for day use.
